R. Nathaniel Dett-Composer

Robert Nathaniel Dett is a Canadian-American composer/musician, teacher, and writer. He has been named as the first American composer to bring together "Negro folk music" and European art music, making him one of the most important figures in American history. A graduate of Oberlin College in 1908, Mr. Dett received a number of award for his music and literature.
